Backed by the release of Subtopia, Lambscape Studio aims to create other games in the works blending realism and magic.
Hello there! My name is Carlos, I am the designer of Subtopia. This is the first game that I am launching publicly.
I have designed other games, which I’ve kept to myself (except for when I played with a friend group). I am quite shy but one of my favourite things in games is the dream of socialising and the teamwork.
Subtopia was created from the efforts and ideas from designing an older game. From that experience a lot was learnt, and in 2024 a completely new game emerged, transformed from older ideas into newer ones.
Working with someone else, I wanted a game that was quite minimalist and didn’t have too many props, as those are usually the type of games I gravitate towards.
This project was a group effort. EPDR worked on the theme finally settling on the suburbs! I mainly worked on writing rules and mechanics. Like life producing life, when individual tiles interact, through their roads, they reproduce the conditions for the suburbs to grow or transform.
